01 / UNDERSTAND THE SYSTEM

VRV & VRF systems in context.

Variable refrigerant flow systems connect multiple indoor units to an outdoor system and adjust refrigerant flow to suit demand. VRV is Daikin’s name for its VRF technology.

Individual rooms share one coordinated refrigerant system. Fault diagnosis needs to consider the network, not only the room with the complaint.

Indoor zones

Different indoor formats and controllers serve individual areas connected to the same system.

Outdoor modules

The outdoor equipment responds to combined demand, within the limits of its design and controls.

Pipework & communication

Refrigerant branches, wiring and addressing link the equipment. Manufacturer-specific requirements apply.

Work that can be included

  • Indoor unit and outdoor module servicing
  • System alarms and communication faults
  • Refrigerant leakage investigation
  • Compressor, fan and control component assessment

Define the scope before work starts.

Parts, quantities, access, shutdowns and reinstatement are confirmed against your site and equipment. Additional defects or specialist works are discussed separately.

Prepare a clearer enquiry

03 / HOW THE WORK PROGRESSES

A clear route from enquiry to completion.

  1. 01

    Map the system

Identify outdoor modules and associated indoor units.

  2. 02

    Collect alarm information

Record controller codes and operating conditions.

  3. 03

    Inspect & diagnose

Check the relevant components and shared system.

  4. 04

    Rectify & verify

Complete approved works and review operation across affected zones.

04 / COMMON QUESTIONS

A little more clarity.

Are VRV and VRF different systems?

VRF describes the general technology; VRV is a Daikin trademark. Exact capabilities and compatibility depend on the manufacturer and model.

Can any indoor unit connect to a VRF outdoor unit?

No. Compatibility depends on the manufacturer, system generation, capacity combination and control requirements.

Will every zone have independent heating and cooling?

Not on every system. Simultaneous heating and cooling requires a suitable heat-recovery arrangement; capabilities depend on the model.
