01 / UNDERSTAND THE SYSTEM

Pipework & insulation in context.

Pipework carries cooling around the building. Correct insulation and a continuous vapour barrier help reduce heat gain and condensation on chilled-water systems.

Well-planned pipe repairs consider the joint, valve, insulation and reinstatement—not only the leaking section.

Pipes & fittings

Material, diameter, supports, connections and operating conditions determine the repair approach.

Valves & accessories

Isolation, balancing and control valves perform different functions and need correct selection.

Insulation & cladding

Insulation limits heat gain; a continuous vapour barrier helps prevent moisture reaching cold surfaces.

02 / SCOPE & CONDITION

What we look at.

AreaWhat mattersWhy it matters
External condensationInsulation condition and vapour-barrier continuityWet insulation may need replacement, not simply another outer covering.
Valve replacementSize, duty, pressure rating and flange arrangementVerify dimensions and access before procurement.
Leaking jointsJoint type and sealing conditionAllow for isolation, drainage and reinstatement in the scope.

Work that can be included

  • Leak rectification and pipe replacement
  • Isolation and balancing valve replacement
  • Flanges, fittings and jointing materials
  • Insulation and protective cladding repairs

Define the scope before work starts.

Parts, quantities, access, shutdowns and reinstatement are confirmed against your site and equipment. Additional defects or specialist works are discussed separately.

Prepare a clearer enquiry

03 / HOW THE WORK PROGRESSES

A clear route from enquiry to completion.

  1. 01

    Measure & assess

Confirm the actual pipe, valve and connection dimensions.

  2. 02

    Plan isolation

Coordinate water drainage, access and shutdown timing.

  3. 03

    Repair & reinstate

Complete pipe or valve works and insulation reinstatement.

  4. 04

    Check the system

Inspect leakage and restore the agreed operating arrangement.

04 / COMMON QUESTIONS

A little more clarity.

Why is my chilled-water pipe sweating?

Condensation can occur when a cold surface meets humid air. Damaged insulation, gaps in the vapour barrier or wet insulation should be assessed before repair.

Can I identify pipe diameter from the insulated outside size?

Not reliably. Insulation and cladding add thickness. Confirm the bare pipe dimensions or equipment documentation.

Is GI cladding the vapour barrier?

Cladding protects the insulation mechanically, but the full insulation system and sealed vapour barrier need to be considered. Metal covering alone is not enough.
